How to use a forum. Please read if new to forums!!

Post by webmaster »

A forum should be used as a place to create discussion, and solve problems.

To those new to forums, you may be confused by the structure of the page or by all of the different features and strange nomenclature. I want to alleviate some concerns on using the forum with this post.

Imagine the times you have been confused about HAM Radio, or curious about HAM etiquette, or when you were simply looking for some information about the club. You likely either dropped your question because you did not know who to ask or you contacted someone in the club.

In either scenario no one learned what you learned. This forum is a solution to that. As an example:

Say I am a brand new HAM, never used the radio, never made a contact. Then I likely am wondering, as I have in the past:
What do I say
So I call someone in the club, they tell me:
On the club repeater simply say (callsign) monitoring and wait.
Instead of this I think all members of the club should use this page. This question would be asked on the forum where the new HAM would receive a number of answers and advice.

Not only would our new club member get an answer so would anyone reading the forum. This information should be free and readily accessible and our club can be a great provider of information, discussion, and knowledge.

I hope that with this post I have encouraged you to post, and reply, and use this forum.
